SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE : NEED OF THE HOUR

a sustainable lifestyle is defined as: Sustainable living describes a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual’s or society’s use of the Earth’s natural resources, and one’s personal resources. It is often called as “earth harmony living” or “net zero living”.

Remember the last time you left the light on, or forgot to turn off the air conditioner. This has actually resulted in wastage of energy. Why is it the the need  of hour? This is because in todays scenario one can see the wastage the whole time,or just see the posters around the city. There are activists found in all countries who are creating awareness regarding the subject so that the future generation has some left with them too.

What I think about this is to reduce what we consume daily. You can see a contrast in many cities for example : The well developed area has a good supply of water ,people there are washing their own cars by pipelines . . but in slums all of them fight for water. There is one more reason to why you should opt for this lifestyle is to even reduce the garbage. In our country, we all are habitual of throwing the waste in the polythene bags, these are sometime coagulated in  the soil and then are either clogging the drain or are being eaten up by our cows (gau mata ). Now think about ,if we all stop using those plastic bags, these animals can be saved and the burden on the environment will be reduced. Actually these are my daily observations when I go around the city or just peek out of my school bus .

If you ask why should we do this all…..just to save the environment for the next generation. YES, we all should pull up our socks , because no one would like to see their children die in front of our eyes , no one would like to see the tree leaves which used to make a nice sound with wind to be  stored in the museum, no one would like to agonize to just get two square meal and finally no one would like to carry oxygen cylinders around where they go.

But how should we do it …so here are some ways you could follow:
1.    Change light bulbs for power efficiency : I still know many of you will still be using the filament bulb, but it is better to just shift to CFL’s…they are power efficient and they reduce the electricity bill money. And at the day time use sunlight to maximum
2.    Practice minimalism : Minimalism is owning fewer possessions, minimalism is intentionally living with only the things you  really need—those items that support your  purpose. I am not saying that we shouldn’t use anything at all but use what we have to maximum. Now if you follow minimalism you will be reusing and recycling more and hence be sustainable.
            3.    Practice carpooling or minimal use of fossil fueled transports : I believe that one should just walk to the nearest store instead taking their cars or any other vehicle. If possible just carpool with your neighbors, friends or relatives 4.    Change your washing habits: As I mentioned before , people even wash their cars with hose pipes So one should also change this habit and use bucket and mug for the same purpose. 5.    Ditch plastic : As we all know plastic has the capability to survive hundreds of years without degrading (just think about the harm it causes to the environment for these 100 years )….So 5.just ditch plastic. These are just few ways ….we all are ingenious to use more ways .
Hope the blog is informative for all
